At the age of three, my Mother - a dancer, high school teacher, and qualified dance teacher - naturally enrolled me into dance classes. Throughout my years of dancing, I was given every opportunity to train in a wide range of genres of dance which included, Modern, Tap, Acrobatics, Contortion & Ballet.
By the time I was 15 I was offered a position at a dance studio teaching jazz which began a new chapter in my dance adventure. After graduating from Lumen Christi College, I was invited back the following year to create Lumens first school based Specialist Dance Program. This opportunity lead to teaching at over 20 different schools and colleges around Perth. At the age of 20 I left Perth and embarked on a 3 year adventure around Europe which inlcluded living and dancing in the UK for two years.
Returning to Perth in 2006, I began my Bachelor of Education at Edith Cowan University & Dance Minor _ WAPPA with the plan to once again teach dance in the Secondary Education System. Former high school students began contacting to find out if I was going to hold my own classes, so in May, after settling into Uni, I rented a hall on a Monday night to hold two classes just for fun, and registered a business name - just for fun - I called it Peppermint Dance Company.
6 months later I deferred from University as I was teaching around 20 classes a week, and thought it was neccessary to find a studio for the 120 students that were enrolled.
The teachers that have joined us at Peppermint are specialists in their own areas, and they share the same positive approach to teaching. Peppermint has been recognised in the industry for our high standards of dance, and we are proud to have achieved these standards in our fun, family environment.
Cassie Hart trained in classical ballet from age 7 to 21, completing the Advanced level of the Royal Academy of Ballet syllabus. During this time she achieved a number of awards and obtained a position with the WA Ballet as an extra from age 10 14.
In 2005 she commenced full time training in Contemporary at the West Australian Academy of Performing Arts. She has danced with Visible Dance Company and performed at a number of events including the opening of Sculpture by the Sea 2011.
Cassie is also a writer for Dance West Magazine a publication released by Ausdance WA.
Lori started out as an elite gymnast, where she competed internationally for Western Australia in 2000. Lori then moved into the dancing world when she was 12 years old where she has been CSTD trained in modern, tap, acrobatics and ballet. Lori joined Nadia at Peppermint in the first year of its opening and has been teaching there for a number of years.
Lori is currently studying a Bachelor of Health and Physical Education teaching with a minor in English and Preventive Health at the University of Notre Dame. Lori has also worked at a childcare centre for five years with children of all ages and also carries a current Working with Children Check and Senior First Aid certification.
Cassie is our youngest teacher trained in jazz, tap, ballet and pointe learning from various syllabus's from WA and NSW including CSTD, WADMA, BAL, RAD and BBA. Throughout all her years of dancing and exams Cassie has achieved high results. Throughout the years of dancing Cassie has performed in eisteddfod / competitions, concerts, shows, functions, fairs, chairty events and danced in various workshops at Sydney Dance Company and Royal Australian Ballet. In 2009, Cassie was given the opportunity to commence teaching at Stage Door Performing Arts which included instructing disabled children in dancing and singing. Cassie joined us in 2009 as a student and commenced her teaching of flow (ballet / modern / contemporary) at Peppermint and also still dances herself as a student at our company
Amy began as an elite gymnast, where she competed internationally for Western Australia. Amy was one of the founding dancers of of Peppermint back in 2006. Last year Amy began teaching strength and fitness programs to our Acrobatics classes, and slowly began implementing her knowledge of gymnastic techniques into their acrobatics skills. The outcome now is an amazing hybrid of gymnastics and acrobatics - the best of both worlds. Amy is a passionate educator, always planning interesting classes and exercises based on fun ideas that develop skills that are necessary whilst the students are enjoying their learning experience as well. Amy is in her final year of studying a Bachelor of Health and Physical Education teaching with a minor in Outdoor Education and English at the University of Notre Dame. Amy also carries a current Working with Children Check and Senior First Aid certification.
Shenae has trained in Theatrial Dance since she was young, but her dancing over the years has lead to her mastering the art of Hip Hop. In her first year with Peppermint Dance Company she marched our crew through the heats being awarded 2nd place, to Melbourne where they represented Australia in the World Supremecy Battlegrounds, an international event for hip hop crews. In between all the fabulous teaching Shenae does, she is also passionate about ensuring Perth is not left out in the International scene, and is always involved in organising workshops _ Peppermint with International Artists. Shenae spent part of last year in LA where she worked with amazing artists and danced at as many studios as she could including Debbie Reynolds Studio. Shenae is now the new director of Dance2XS Perth, and you may catch the crew at Peppermint sometime as they use our studios as their base. Her deep passion for dancing shines through and we are blessed to have her as a teacher - She is definitely a powerhouse that has to be seen to be believed!

"As for a few specifics, I was really impressed
with the Smells Like Nirvana cheerleaders. I
have seen quite a few routines and this was
by far the most thoroughly planned out and
most entertaining one I've seen. They even
got into a fake fight at the end and stormed
off the stage. Very cool!
